Article curtesy of www.esfi.org: Between 2009-2013, U.S. fire departments responded to an annual average of 860 home structure fires that began with holiday decorations and an additional 210 home structure fires that began with Christmas trees according to the National Fire Protection Association.

Daylight Savings Time - A Good Time to Remember to Change Your Smoke Detector Battery

Remember to change your clocks and smoke alarm batteries when daylight savings time ends tonight. 3 out of 5 home fire deaths result from fires in homes without a working smoking alarm, according to the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA). IAFF Local #2876 firefighters remind you to not only change your clock when Daylight Savings Time ends, but the batteries in your smoke alarms.

Burn Ban Lifted by Kitsap County Fire Marshall

From the Fire Marshalls Office: 'The Kitsap County Fire Marshal announced the ban on outdoor burning will be lifted effective 8 a.m.on Thursday, September 25, outdoor burning throughout unincorporated Kitsap County may resume subject to the normal permitting requirements, rules and regulations. Additional information is available by contacting the fire marshal at 360.337.

Thank you to our Relay for Life 2014 supporters!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped the Firewalkers make this our most successful Relay for Life yet! Special thanks to James Shockley for creating our amazing luminary display with supplies donated by Mitchell Lumber, Sound Glass and Trimline Design.   The 17’ hand-built kayak we auctioned off was built and donated by Dave Mottershead.

2014 Relay for Life

The Local 2876 team, the FIREWALKERS, will be participating in the 2014 Relay for Life of South Kitsap this weekend, June 6th and 7th, at South Kitsap High School.  We are asking for your support! Easter Breakfast

Come join us for an Easter egg hunt and breakfast on Easter Sunday Easter Egg Hunt The Easter egg hunt will be held at Olalla Elementary at 10 AM on Saturday, April 19th. Easter Breakfast Easter Breakfast will be held at Station 12 in Olalla (Corner of Mullenix & Olalla Valley Road) from 8 AM – Noon on Sunday, April 20th.
